OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

The overall aim of the course is to provide students the foundation for understanding the Monitoring system of the Food and Nutritional Security  in march, the implementation of the predictive model, as well as the management and update of information from the Digital Platform in Power BI that displays the results of the different predictions and data SAN-taken in the field.

Module 1: Introducción a la plataforma PREDISAN

1.1. Session 1

• Introduction to the PREDISAN platform (Goals, functioning, iputs and outputs)
• Data sources (socio-economic, agroclimátic, (SAN) data field.

Module 2: Implementation of the predictive model.

2.1. Session 2

• Calculation of agroclimatic index.
• Preparation of socio-economic and agroclimatic data table.

2.2. Session 3

• Introduction to data science (aims and applications, what is a predictive model, types of predictive models.
• Management software Orange (first steps).

2.3. Session 4

• Preparation of the predictive model and the obtention of areas of concern (data entry, data generation, model generation, procurement, and export of results)

Module 3: Platform update

3.1. Session 5

• Introduction to Power BI (What is it and what does it do, setup, getting started with the interface, examples of analysis and representation of data)

3.2. Session 6

• Import the results into the PREDISAN platform (prediction of areas of concern, agroclimatic data, SAN field data).

3.3 final Work

• Union of all the previous exercises and generate a small report with the complete process of generating areas of concern and uploading them to the PREDISAN platform.

The course will be held online and supervised by a teaching expert. There are synchronous sessions, in which the tutor proposes videoconference sessions by at a particular time. In addition, a study of the contents asynchronously is proposed, where each person can study at the time and place they want. These contents are based on pills of video and self-assessment activities, dynamisation of forums or practical work and tutorials led by a teacher.

The course presents a combination of several resources with the goal of facilitating the learning of the key concepts that allow to apply the acquired knowledge:

• Videos. Presentation and explanation of key concepts.
• Sessions by videoconference. Via Google meet or Teams that will be recorded to make them available to the participants.
• Contents. There will be training pills of navigable content.
• Activities. Shares in the forums through reflections raised, self-assessment activities and activities guided by the teacher.
• Bibliography. Throughout the course several readings will be recommended, some of them are mandatory to allow to expand the theoretical content of the module and others are recommended to expand the knowledge and/or interest in specific topics.

The system of evaluation will consist of several activities:
1. To overcome the online training will be required to perform all of the activities and pass them successfully.
2. In addition, the participation in the forums and the attendance at the video-conferencing sessions will be essential.
