The project will be financed by FEDER funds/Junta de Andalucía - Consejería de Transformación Económica, Industria, Conocimiento y Universidades (Reference B-CTS-160-UGR20), and will be led by scientists from the University of Granada, belonging to the Department of Physical and Sports Education and the Department of Urban and Territorial Planning. It will also include the participation of national researchers from the Universities of Jaén and Extremadura, as well as international experts from the universities of Drexel (United States), Ghent (Belgium) and the University of Southern Denmark (Denmark).

To achieve their objectives, the researchers will analyse the physical activity habits of more than 250 Andalusian adolescents and evaluate the urban environment in which they are physically active, both at home and at the schools they attend, as well as along the route between the two sites. This will help to identify those aspects of the urban environment that favour physical activity and, in particular, active travel, i.e. walking and cycling. The final results will be integrated into an informative guide that will include recommendations on the use of existing urban environments and on the redevelopment or creation of new spaces.
